The easiest way to tell if a company can be trusted is by checking to see if you can easily leave a review. If you can't easily find where you can leave a review, then it's most likely a fraudulent company. The fake companies will show fake reviews on their websites. Make sure you can click on that 5-star link that they so proudly display on their site. If you can't, then it's just an image of a 5-star logo used to deceive people.

It is crucial to be aware of the potential scams and fraudulent practices that exist in the industry. Unfortunately, there are companies that claim to offer air duct and dryer vent cleaning services but fail to deliver on their promises.

These unscrupulous companies often advertise low prices to attract unsuspecting customers. They may even offer additional services or discounts to make their offers seem more enticing. However, once they arrive at your home, they may not perform a proper cleaning or may even damage your air ducts or dryer vents in the process.

One of the most common tactics used by these fraudulent companies is the "bait and switch" technique. They will advertise a low price for air duct or dryer vent cleaning, but once they are in your home, they will try to upsell you on additional services or claim that your system requires expensive repairs. In some cases, they may even refuse to leave until you pay for these unnecessary services.

To avoid falling victim to these scams, it is important to do your research before hiring an air duct or dryer vent cleaning company. Here are some tips to help you make an informed decision:

1. Check for Proper Licensing and Insurance

Legitimate air duct and dryer vent cleaning companies should have the necessary certifications, licenses, and insurance to operate in your area. Make sure to ask for proof of these credentials before hiring a company. Especially if you're skeptical.

2. Read Reviews and Testimonials. Try to leave one.

Take the time to read reviews and testimonials from previous customers, on external websites other than their own. Those are often AI generated reviews. Look for feedback on the company's professionalism, quality of work, and customer service. This will give you a better idea of what to expect from the company. If you can't easily find where you can leave a review, then it's most likely a fraudulent company.

3. Get Multiple Quotes

Obtain quotes from multiple companies and compare their prices and services. Be cautious of companies that offer significantly lower prices than their competitors, as this could be a red flag for potential scams.

4. Ask for References

Request references from the company and follow up with them. Ask about their experience with the company and if they were satisfied with the services provided.

5. Trust Your Instincts

If something feels off or too good to be true, trust your instincts. If a company is pressuring you to make a quick decision or seems hesitant to provide information, it is best to look for another reputable company.

By following these guidelines, you can protect yourself from falling victim to air duct and dryer vent cleaning scams. Remember, a legitimate and professional company will prioritize your satisfaction and the cleanliness of your home.

Investing in regular dryer vent cleaning is essential for maintaining a healthy indoor environment, saving electricity, and prolonging the life of your dryer. By choosing a reputable company, you can ensure that the job is done properly and efficiently, providing you with peace of mind and clean air for you and your family.

Here are some examples of companies claiming to have 5-star reviews on Google, an Angie's List Award, a Home Advisor Certification, and they added a few other "Badges" and fake reviews on their websites to make themselves look reputable. There are no real reviews to be seen, or any other information anywhere. You can't leave a negative review for them if you wanted to, because they have no legit business presence online.

I've personally heard dozens of complaints about these companies from their customers, who then later hired us to do the job right, because they still had venting issues after paying over $300, or more, to these sham companies.

One customer said they paid $750 for the "Deep clean" and "Vent seal procedure", a bogus process. Then the company ignored the calls from the customer about the vent still being clogged. They couldn't do anything about it since the invoice was from a fake or "shell company" that doesn't exist, and they wrote the check out to cash as requested by the "technician".

These fake companies are ran from overseas, they use call centers to get your information when you call about the "$79 special". Then they sub out the job to whoever called them in the area that was looking for work. They generally have no experience, no license, no insurance, and have no business trying do any work at your house, or go on to your roof to try to clean your vent.

No Insurance= If they damage your property, or if they fall or injure themselves, you're the one paying the bill.
