Dryer Vent Hose Cleaning and Replacement
The images on this page are examples of clothes dryer connection duct that needs to be replaced. We offer durable replacement dryer connection hoses and clamps for your convenience. The best way to hook the dryer to the wall would be with a solid metal pipe. But oftentimes the laundry area is not large enough to accommodate a hard pipe connection. So our preferred way to hook up a clothes dryer to the vent pipe is by using flexible connection duct.
The flexible aluminum foil duct we use is UL 2158A listed and marked for safe dryer venting. There is a drawback though. That type of soft duct can be crushed if the dryer is pushed back against, or too close to the wall. That will restrict the airflow, increase drying time, potentially damage the dryer by overheating, and eventually become a fire hazard if left unchecked.
Sometimes we can gain more space in front of the dryer by cutting out a section of wall to push the connection duct in to. Some people opt for dryer wall boxes to be installed when the house is built. But you have to make sure the box is centered behind the machine or it won't do any good. You can see an example of a dryer wall box and find out where to purchase one at www.dryerbox.com. They are extremely hard to install in a preexisting wall, so it's best to have it installed during a new build or laundry room remodel. Although they do make one for retrofit, I just don't like to mess with them. They are more trouble than I like to get into. I like to stick to the simple cut, fixes and hose replacements when necessary.
We always clean the connection as part of our service, and can offer replacements if necessary. Upgrade your dryer vent system!
